A beautiful snowfall has blanketed the entire Amicalola EMC service area today. The heavy wet snow is weighing down trees and tree limbs and has now caused up to 369 separate power outages, for a total of 6219 members affected so far. 9 out of the 10 counties in our service area are experiencing widespread power outages. Crews are working, contract crews have been called in and all are expected to work all night. MURPHY, N.C.- UPDATE: Union County, Georgia, EMA in conjunction with the American Red Cross and House of Prayer has opened a temporary emergency shelter at House of Prayer Family Life Center located at 145 Bible Camp Circle in Blairsville.
If you are without power, have no alternate heat and need shelter, please travel to the shelter. Please make sure it is safe to travel before doing so as road conditions may be hazardous.
As of 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) reported via Facebook that there are still 338 power outages affecting 6,426 members in its coverage area.
This weekend’s winter storm left thousands without power in the Tri-State area. Many have been without power since Friday afternoon.
Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation (BRMEMC) announced via Facebook that crews are working diligently to restore power to the service area.
As of 8 a.m. Sunday, there were a reported 401 outages affecting 13,203 members. Below is a list of areas BRMEMC crews will be working in today:

BRMEMC updated their facebook at 10 a.m. letting customers know that outages are down to 370 with 8,768 customers affected. Crews are making progress in this cold weather.
