Andrews man arrested in connection to catalytic converter theft

Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the May 19, 2021 arrest of 30-year-old, Caine Tyler Burnette, of Andrews, North Carolina for charges stemming from an investigation into the theft of catalytic converters in Murphy, North Carolina.
On May 7, 2021, The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office received reports of larceny at a business. Caine Tyler Burnette was later identified as a suspect in the theft of the catalytic converters from multiple vehicles located at that business.
On May 19, Burnette was observed in the vehicle used at the time of the theft. A traffic stop was initiated and Burnette was taken into custody.
Caine Tyler Burnette was arrested for: Felony injury to property obtaining non-Ferris metal, Felony Larceny, Felony Larceny of motor vehicle parts, and First-degree trespass. Burnette is currently incarcerated in the Cherokee County Detention Center under a $250.00 secure bond for charges stemming from Graham County. He was given a $10,000.00 unsecure bond for the charges stemming from this arrest. He is expected in Cherokee County District Court on May 27, 2021 at 9 am.
